What We Do
We are a college-prep STEM high school located in RTP with a fundamental belief that our students can shape the future of society.
In 2026, we will offer 200 seats to incoming 9th-graders and add a grade level every year after that, with an anticipated enrollment of 650 students.

Our History

Raleigh Charter High School
In 1999, Raleigh Charter High School opened as the state's first stand-along charter high school with the goal of providing a rigorous college prep program. To this day it is one of the state's highest performing schools with a waitlist of over 1000 students.

Research Triangle High School
In 2012, a group of teachers at RCHS and community members from RTP envisioned a STEM-focused version of RCHS that would bring about an innovative academic model, called Flipped Learning. Research Triangle High School has since been one of the state's high performing high schools with an impressively long waitlist.

Carolina Collegiate
In 2021, the board of RTHS answered the call from the state to replicate its model to provide more seats for students pursuing a strong college prep high school option. Carolina Collegiate was born from a collection of RTHS board members and staff meant to scale the school's model while also taking next steps on innovative academic models.
